Genetic Counselling

Claire Shepherd is a board-certified and licensed genetic counsellor who is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of genetics and address common misconceptions surrounding Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and related connective tissue disorders. She holds a Master of Science in Genetic Counselling from Augustana University and a Graduate Certificate in Genomic Counselling and Variant Interpretation from the University of British Columbia.

Claire believes that genetic information should be accessible, understandable, and empowering, and strives to create a welcoming space where patients feel supported. Through a detailed review of personal and family health history, Claire helps patients better understand the role genetics may play in their symptoms and discusses the benefits, limitations, and potential outcomes of genetic testing. Her goal is to provide clear, compassionate counselling so that each patient can make an informed decision about whether genetic testing is right for them.
