supporting individuals with hypermobility disorders.

There are 2 pathways for being seen by the Hypermobility Canada team: Self Referrals and through a Referral to a Medical Geneticist. Learn more about the referral options by reading the information below.

Referral Pathways

Self Referral:

Register using our online form and make a self referral to get a Core Assessment. Self referral costs $199 CAD.

These assessments have costs:

  • Multidisciplinary Assessment through our Nurse Specialist, Physio or Occupational therapist and Psychological Services Specialist

  • Physical Exam with our Nurse Specialist

  • Option of a hypermobile-focused gene sequencing test
  • Counselling Letter indicating whether features would meet criteria for a hypermobility syndrome – this is a screen and not a diagnosis
  • For many patients this is sufficient to understand what they have and seek treatment
  • Management Suggestions and Care Plan where applicable

Referral to a Medical Geneticist:

A focused assessment by a Medical Geneticist or similarly qualified Physician will be provided if all criteria are met:

  • This pathway is only for patients who have never had a formal diagnosis of a hypermobile disorder

  • You must have a primary care provider

  • Referral from a Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner is Required
  • Core Assessment must be completed from any qualified health care practitioner – the report should be signed and uploaded to the referral system (referral system coming soon!)

Fees apply if you don’t have appropriate health care coverage.

  • Letter indicating whether you meet diagnostic criteria for a hypermobile disorder
  • Management Suggestions to your referring practitioner
  • A follow-up M.D. visit is not scheduled
  • You can self-refer to our Health & Wellness Program

Our Team of Health Professionals

After your referral to Hypermobility Canada and completing a Core Assessment, you can choose to participate in our Wellness Program where we offer Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychological Services and POTS Management Services. These services have fees.
